The ISO/IEC 20000 IT Service Management Standard is published in two parts:

ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005  ITService Management Specification
ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005  ITService Management Code of Practice

ISO/IEC 20000-1 provides recommendations for IT Service Management and is relevant to those responsible for initiating, implementing or maintaining IT Service Management in their organisation.

ISO/IEC 20000-2 takes the form of guidance notes and recommendations and describes the best practices for Service Management processes within the scope of ISO/IEC 20000-1. The code of practice will be of particular use to organisations preparing to be audited against ISO/IEC 20000-1 or planning service improvements.
